Welcome to my newsletter in which I will share with you valuable insights on how you can expand your perspective to create more wealth in your life. Your time is valuable, so I aim to keep it to three short sections: What do I need to know? How can I apply it to my life? and Let’s tap on it!
What do I need to know?
As we start the new year, almost all of us have financial goals that we want to meet. We start the year with great enthusiasm and excitement, but what happens when we experience episodes of feeling low when we think about making more money. Does it feel uncomfortable? Do you immediately try to distract yourself from feeling down? What we don’t realize is there is beauty in even these darker emotions and we can use these feelings to guide us to the underlying fears and doubts (expressed as beliefs) inside of us, which is holding us back from powerfully stepping into our goals.
Let me explain. Emotions express the dominant belief that is operating in us in this very moment. For example, if you are watching a beautiful sunset which fills you with contentment, the dominant belief in you is something similar to the thought that ‘all is well right now,’ or ‘I feel safe and supported.’ On the other hand, if focusing on your bank account makes you feel overwhelmed, stressed, and worried, you are expressing a belief of lack and scarcity, whether your recognize it or not.
How can I apply it in my life?
When you feel stressed and overwhelmed by money concerns, instead of pushing those thoughts aside, ask yourself what are the emotions I am feeling? Stress and overwhelm are mental, not emotional states. Once you are clear on the emotion, such as fear, the next question to ask is what specifically about this situation is causing me to feel this emotion. If we feel stressed about money, a common fear we have is our circumstances might never improve, or that we don’t know how to improve them.
Lets tap on it!
Using your emotions, you have now identified the underlying cause of your stress, which is the first step towards clearing your money paradigm (emotions, beliefs, and actions) . If even a small part of you does not believe your money conditions will improve, you will find ways to keep yourself stuck in status quo, which will leave you feeling frustrated, disappointed, and even more convinced that all is lost.
A powerful way to release this block is to “tap” or use ‘Emotional Freedom Technique’ or EFT. Be specific about the fears; contrary to what most people believe, acknowledging and facing our fears is more impactful than suppressing them and in the process of tapping, you will find that your fears will eventually turn to more positive and optimistic thoughts.
The post Use Your Emotions To Power Your 2016 Money Goals first appeared on Oberfeld Coaching.]]>I have taken a long break from my newsletters and like most of you have spent the last few months ensconced in my own creation process. You see, after working with clients I realized something really important. Each one of us is striving towards...
The post What Are You Getting Ready To Grow first appeared on Oberfeld Coaching.]]>There is a lot to gain in stepping into what author Dr. Gay Hendericks calls the Zone of Genius (I prefer zone of Mastery) in his excellent book The Big Leap. This is where you actualize your full potential and feel more alive because you are spending your time only on things that light you up. Instead of working on your creations, you are instead allowing the creative energies to flow through you. When you are in this zone circumstances, events, people, and all types of resources present themselves in service to you. However, there is a dark side to entering this hallowed space that in truth we all deserve: FEAR.
Each one of us feels it in different ways. We subconsciously push away the very thing that we want the most and sabotage our best efforts to step into our new creations. Let me give you an example. One of my professional goals is to offer workshops in the D.C. metropolitan area to help business owners and entrepreneurs identify their inner financial ceiling that keeps them stuck in a particular zone. My workshops have been successful, however the groups were small intimate ones. I recently made the decision that it’s time for me to make these presentations to a larger audience. A step in the right direction, wouldn’t you agree? Except that within a matter of days I developed a cough and cold that robbed me of my voice and my ability to speak. While most people may dismiss it as purely coincidental, this has happened to me too many times for me to ignore what is a potentially important learning opportunity.
I stopped and asked myself a simple question. What is really going on inside of me that I don’t want to face and am using this illness as an excuse to avoid? The answer was right there at the surface; it only required a moment of consciousness. My fear was that I would not be able to connect with people the same way in larger groups. A fear that I know is unfounded because many of my coaches and mentors regularly connect with hundreds, if not thousands, of people at their events.
If you are still reading this message probably resonates with you. I invite you to take a moment to ask yourself where you are holding yourself back. A common answer I hear is that I cannot financially commit to stepping into my fuller self and my question is how can you not afford to commit? Your circumstances and situation will only change once you take the first step on the path. Nothing changes while you contemplate and wait for the ideal time. I know I have wasted a lot of time in my life hoping and praying that things would be different instead of putting that energy into creating something new. If this feels true for you, I suggest that you make a decision to take one small step in the direction of your dreams. Something as simple as writing them down can act as a powerful catalyst on your masterful journey.
Let’s tap on it!
If the thought of stepping into your Zone of Mastery is both thrilling and anxiety provoking, join me in a short tapping round that will help neutralize some of your concerns. The language I use in the video is general in order to reach a wide audience; however, I encourage you to tune into your own emotions and beliefs that come up as you tap along with me.
